Taman Impian Jaya Ancol
Taman Impian Jaya Ancol / Jaya Ancol Dreamland is a vast recreation park and offers many attractions from swimming pools, boating, lagoon for fishing even golf. Jaya Ancol Dreamland also has Sea World and Dunia Fantasi / Fantasy Land. Sea World provides a very big aquarium which is full with many fishes and Fantasy Land provides many entertainment parks and games. There are many restaurants, night clubs and hotels in Jaya Ancol complex. Jaya Ancol Dreamland does not offer you a culturally event but it gives you a lot of fun with your family.
Jakarta History Museum
Also known as Museum Fatahillah (Fatahillah is a national hero who captured Sunda Kelapa / Jayakarta back from the Portuguese). It is a great place to visit for learning more about the history of Jakarta as well as about the former Dutch East India Company. Originally constructed in 1627, Jakarta History Museum is built in the old town hall of Batavia, formerly was the Dutch Colonial administration office and the law courts. Jakarta History Museum has carved furniture from the colonial era, memorabilia from the Dutch period.
The National Museum is also known as Elephant Museum because there is a giant bronze elephant that was given by the King Chulalongkorn / King Rama V from Thailand in 1871 and now it still stands outside. If you are interested in the historic details, ancient heritage, archaeological and anthropological, the National Museum is one of the best places to visit.
Constructed in 1862, National Museum is the most important museum in Indonesia and one of the finest in South East Asia because of its various and huge collections. This museum has collection of many anthropological and prehistoric artifacts, large collection of textile, metal, ceramics, stone sculpture, ethnography and numismatics.
National Monument / Monument National, a 137 meter tall obelisk monument stands over Merdeka square, Jakarta’s chief landmark. Monas is symbolizing the fight for Indonesia’s independence. It was constructed in 1961 and was opened in 1975. The top of the monument shaped like a flame covered with gold foil. At the base of the monument, there is National History Museum which tells about the struggle for Indonesian’s independence.
Taman Mini Indonesia Indah
Taman Mini Indonesia Indah or Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park is a cultural recreational park in Jakarta. The park shows us about the Indonesian culture in all aspects of daily life in Indonesia’s provinces encapsulated in separate pavilions with the collections of architecture, clothing, dances and traditions are all depicted impeccably. This park has a lake with a miniature of the Indonesian’s archipelago in the middle of it. There are many other recreational facilities like cable cars, museums, theater and other else which make TMII one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city.
